Germany vs Denmark -  Team news

Germany enter this game having won Group A thanks to a late goal by Niclas Füllkrug, who saved Die Mannschaft from a loss against Switzerland and cleared their path to the title. The Germans finished the group stage without a loss, which is a huge improvement from their last outing, where they barely made it to the KO stage with a loss, a draw, and a win. Now, the team led by Julian Nagelsmann seems to be ready to go back to fighting for a spot in the podium with Ilkay Gündogan and Toni Kroos calling the shots in midfield and with the aforementioned Füllkrug helping from the bench if Kai Havertz fails to score again.

On the other side of the pitch will be the Danish side, who always get to this competitions away from the spotlight but with enough class and skills to complicate those who are true title contenders. This could be the motivation behind Kasper Hjulmand's men, who finished second in Group C with no wins to their name and with only two goals scored. Hjulmand's crew will try to prove that they are no fluke in this clash, with Christian Eriksen leading their midfield and with striker Rasmus Hojlund trying to bag his first UEFA Euro goal. It will be hard for the Danish to match their performance from the 2020 edition, but at least they will do their best to keep things interesting against the hosts.

Unfortunately, there will be some players that will not be available for this clash. Jonathan Tah and Morten Hjulmand will be out due to suspension, while Antonio Rüdiger's fitness will be in question until minutes before the game kicks off.

Germany vs Denmark: Head-to-head

  • This will be the 29th game between these teams.

  • Germany have defeated Denmark in 15 of their 28 meetings.

  • Denmark has only claimed eight wins against Germany across all comps.

  • This will be the fourth meeting between Germany and Denmark in a UEFA Euro clash. Germany has won two of those.

  • Denmark's only win in a UEFA Euro match against Germany came in the 1992 final. The Danish Dynamite shocked the world with their 2-0 win, with goals by John Jensen and Kim Vilfort.

  • Germany get to this clash on a four-game unbeaten run against Denmark, although only one of those games ended in win for Die Mannschaft.

  • Denmark's coach Kasper Hjulmand will face Germany for the second time ever, having coached them to a one-all draw in 2021. Meanwhile, this will be Julian Nagelsmann's first game facing Denmark.
