TVR 3 History, Coverage, Features
TVR 3 is a Romanian television channel owned and operated by the Romanian Television Society, the Romanian public television system. TVR 3 was launched on October 10, 2008 as the fourth channel owned by its parent company.
Over the years, TVR 3 has been known as a general interest channel, with its focus being to give voice to regional content produced by the channel’s branches located all over the country. Most of the channel’s content has had to do with local news, although children’s programming, religion, science, sports, and educational shows being aired on this channel. Most of the shows aired on this channel have been broadcast in Romanian language.
Speaking about sports, TVR 3 has been known for being used as an overflow channel when TVR 1 and TVR 2 have not available to cover live events to which they have broadcasting rights live. Some of the disciplines covered on this channel over the years have included football and rugby. When it comes to football, TVR 3 has aired content related to the Romanian football team and has also covered different editions of the FIFA World Cup.
TVR 3 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, and due to the kind of content it airs, plans to develop a High-Definition feed have not been announced by its parent company. Nevertheless, an upscaled version of the channel might be available in some regions of the country via select pay-tv carriers.
