About
CStar History, Coverage, Features
CStar, short for Canal Star, is a private television channel from France that is owned and operated by Canal+. It was launched on October 7, 2012 as D17, but it was later rebranded as Canal Star on September 5, 2016 as part of the agreement that saw the Bolloré Group selling its channels to Canal+.
Over the years, CStar has established itself as a music-oriented channel. The network has focused on broadcasting concerts, documentaries, TV series, drama series, movies, and even Japanese anime shows.
CStar started out its broadcasts with a Standard Definition format, but the channel evolved to a High Definition feed in June 2015. Both feeds are still available in France.
