Tata Martino's men remain top of the table in the Eastern Conference and are still leading the Supporters' Shield race. However, that gap has narrowed after the Herons were held to a frustrating draw in their derby against Orlando City on Wednesday.

While that trip to Inter&Co Stadium saw the Herons keep a clean sheet for only the second time this season, the Eastern Conference leaders also failed to score in an MLS game for only the second time this season.

To no one's surprise, that midweek stalemate came in the absence of Lionel Messi, with the influential Argentine attacker missing that fixture through injury. As a result, Inter Miami's lead in the Supporters' Shield race has now been slashed to a single point.

Cincinnati are hot on their heels in both that race and in the Eastern Conference standings, with only a point separating the two in both tables. However, Inter Miami have played an extra game, which means Messi and Co. could be dethroned when on level terms.

Regardless, the Florida franchise have been one of the most in-form teams over the past few weeks. The Herons are unbeaten in their last six outings, five of which ended in victories. While there were slim wins over Sporting KC and Montreal during this run, Messi and Co. also flexed their goalscoring prowess, thrashing New England and the New York Red Bulls.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about DC United, who are going through a rough spell in the league, winning only four games all season despite playing 13 top-flight fixtures.

The Black-and-Red have triumphed in two of their last seven fixtures but have suffered losses on three occasions during this run, including their most recent game. That fixture was against the New York Red Bulls, with Troy Lesesne's men losing 4-1.

Lucas Bartlet scored DC United's only goal of the game while the Red Bulls had four different goal-scorers in what was a humiliating defeat for the Black-and-Red.

As a result, the hosts sit eighth in the table, holding the first of two playoff spots. However, Nashville, who sit just outside the playoffs spot, are only three points behind, meaning DC United must return to winning ways sooner rather than later.

Federico Redondo is nearing a return while Jordi Alba is fit and back in contention. Shanyder Borgelin, Robbie Robinson, Facundo Farias, and Ian Fray are also unavailable for the hosts.

DC United: Conner Antley is unavailable for the visitors due to an ACL injury. Russell Canouse also remains sidelined but Lesesne has no major concerns outside of that.
