The two superstars will go head-to-head at Stamford Bridge in the Chelsea vs Manchester United FA Cup tie on Monday.

Monday's FA Cup clash between Chelsea and Manchester United comes at a period when its essence transcends beyond being a mere English cup game with both clubs under pressure to deliver the goods for different reasons.

For starters, Maurizio Sarri and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will both fancy a win more than anyone else in order to lighten the weight of criticism directed at them as a result of recent change in fortunes. As a result, the pair will be counting on their respective star performers to harness their capabilities to the brim on the day of reckoning.

Momentarily, both Eden Hazard and Paul Pogba are on course to finish the season with their best-ever tallies. For the former, an impressive start in the Premiership this season has seen him register 12 goals in 25 matches. This puts the Belgian attacker just four goals short of his best-ever return in a Chelsea shirt which he achieved in the 2016/2017 title-winning season.

In the assists department, Eden Hazard has not shied away from his duties as a tenacious No.10 as he has managed 10 in the league so far.

The tale is almost complementary on the red end of the spectrum for Paul Pogba whose performance has experienced a rejuvenation following the arrival of interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Under the Norwegian, the Frenchman's deployment in an advance position in a midfield trio with Matic and Herrera has yielded great dividends for the Red Devils.

In the last nine Premier League games, Pogba has been involved in 13 goals, scoring eight and providing five assists. Overall, the 25-year-old French star has bagged 11 goals in the ongoing league campaign – his career best so far.

He is also just two assists from usurping his best creative record of 10 which he attained in his last season with Juventus. At the moment, the World Cup winner has an average goal and assist per game record than both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Now, although both Hazard and Pogba may not exactly be worlds apart in terms of numbers racked up for the season, the disparity in form in recent games could have a huge influence on the outcome of the upcoming clash. Clearly, Chelsea's struggle has taken a toll on their No. 10.

Bar scoring twice in the 5:0 mauling of Huddersfield, Hazard has failed to be involved in goal for Chelsea in each of his last three appearances across all competitions. Those meetings feature the 2-1 away win over Malmo as well as the heavy 6-0 and 4:0 defeats to Manchester City and Bournemouth respectively.

Pogba, on the other hand, only failed to have a hand in a goal in the recent 2:0 loss to PSG having managed three goals and one assist in successive games against Fulham, Leicester City and Burnley.

In a nutshell, while form hardly determines what usually transpires in meetings between Chelsea and Manchester United, the popular outlook is that whichever club that successfully unleashes his poster-boy could seal progression to the next stage of the competition.
