Interest in the Frenchman from England is high, with another heavyweight throwing their hat into the ring.

Things have gone from bad to worse for Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea after their embarrassing 6-0 defeat at Man City. The Italian is now tipped to be in a fight to save his job, given the club's track record of sacking managers without remorse, with reports claiming the Blues are already eyeing for a successor.

According to the Sun, one man has emerged as a top candidate and that is none other than Zinedine Zidane. The French tactician had heavily been linked with a move to Man United but the London giant is now ready to beat their rival to the punch and for obvious reasons.

The 1998 World Cup winner led Real Madrid to three consecutive Champions League titles in a short but trophy-laden spell as Santiago Bernabeu boss. The Frenchman also won two UEFA Super Cups and two FIFA Club World Cups alongside one La Liga title and a Spanish Super Cup.

After quitting Los Blancos, the 46-year-old decided to take a temporary break from management and is thus currently in a one-year sabbatical. His agent revealed that Zidane will not cut his break short to take a job midseason, which could be an issue for Chelsea, as they are reportedly willing to cut ties with Sarri soon should things fail to improve.

The Stamford Bridge side is in for a tricky February as they will face Malmo across their two-legged round of 32. Furthermore, they will also face Man United in the FA Cup, Man City in the Carabao Cup final, and Tottenham in the league all before March.

It should also be noted that while Solskjaer has impressed and is the favorite for the permanent job at Old Trafford, Zidane is not out of the picture yet. This means Chelsea will have to fight off competition from their rival should Sarri get the sack.
