The footballer had refused to attend any of Lionel Scaloni's call ups following the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Argentine fans can rest easy: Lionel Messi will officially return to their national team.

The blue and white side is expected to have a couple of friendly games in the upcoming FIFA International Break, and sources close to Messi have confirmed that coach Lionel Scaloni will invite the superstar to join them in preparation for the 2019 Copa América.

According to Goal.com, Messi will return to the South American side with the help of some of his closest friends, including Angel Di Maria, Sergio Aguero and Nicolas Otamendi.

La Albiceleste will face Venezuela and the Czech Republic in the only International Break prior to the competition, which will be held in Brazil.

Messi's return to the national team will put an end to all speculation that saw "La Pulga" turning his back on La Albiceleste due to his lack of success. The last disappointment for Messi with his national team came in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where the team barely made it to the KO stage, with would-be champions France kicking them out of the competition.

Messi is Argentina's all-time top scorer with 65 goals in 128 games, but he's failed to win a single trophy with the senior squad.
