The Ronaldinho transfer saga has been impacted by the player’s indecision over which club he must join. Gremio, Palmeiras, Corinthians or Flamengo? Ronaldinho remains hesitant at the disgust of living legend Pele.
“If he really loves Gremio, he should play there for free!” Pele told Globoesporte as he discussed about Ronaldinho’s transfer stories.

“He is set up for life already, right? That’s my opinion. I played a whole season [at Santos] for nothing,” the Brazilian superstar continued as he cited his 1974 season as an example.

“Santos were in financial ruins, and I gave them my salary to help the club.”

Pele is apparently extremely opposed to the current situation involving the ex-Barcelona play maker. Gremio are actually known to be the player’s boyhood idols as he is from Porto Alegre.

However, other Brazilian sides such as Corinthians, Flamengo and Palmeiras are now all contesting against Gremio for the signature of Ronaldinho. According to Pele, the 30-year-old is not only ridiculous to be driven by money but also wrong to let these 4 Brazilian clubs to fight against each other.

“It’s not acceptable for Brazilian teams to keep acting in such a way for the transfer of a player,” Pele underlined.

“That’s a way of cheapening the game. Meanwhile, [Ronaldinho] won’t play because he likes his chosen club or because he wants to prove Brazilian football fans that he can still play. He is going to play for whoever gives him the most, and I think that’s wrong.”

While die-hard Gremio supporters may side with Pele’s comment, many other football fans may understand Ronaldinho’s attitude as the transfer saga is yet to end. Which club will finally get the midfielder? Gremio, Palmeiras, Corinthians or Flamengo?
