The Cityzens beat West Ham 3-1 on the final day to lift the English top-flight title ahead of Arsenal for a second year running.

It is official: Manchester City are the 2023-24 Premier League champions.

The Cityzens secured this historic title on the final day of the season, with Pep Guardiola's men beating West Ham 3-1 to pip rivals Arsenal to the crown.

Guardiola's men entered the final day with a two-point lead over the Gunners but an inferior goal difference. As a result, a slip-up from the Cityzens could have seen the title head to North London instead.

Fortunately for the newly-crowned champions, Phil Foden's quick-fire brace all but did the job, with the Premier League Player of the Season breaking the deadlock after only two minutes before grabbing his second in the 18th minute.

West Ham pulled one back shortly before half-time thanks to a sensational overhead kick from Mohammed Kudus. However, Rodri hammered the final nail in the coffin with his goal in the 59th minute.

And with that, Manchester City set a Premier League record by becoming the first team in the competition's history to win four consecutive titles, adding to their success in 2022-23, 2021-22, and 2020-21.

The previous record for most consecutive wins stood at three. This was set by Manchester United on two previous occasions (1998-2001 and 2006-2009) and Manchester City in the three seasons prior to this campaign.

Additionally, Pep Guardiola became the first manager in history to win the Premier League crown four seasons in a row a season after becoming the first manager to win the treble twice.

And then there is Rodri. The Spanish midfielder also reached a fantastic milestone, becoming the player with the longest unbeaten run in club football after going 74 straight matches without defeat in normal time (hence why the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal loss to Real Madrid did not end this record).

Arsenal, meanwhile, have to settle for a second-place finish for the second season in a row after winning 2-1 at home to Everton in the final day to finish on 89 points (City finished on 91). While it was another impressive campaign from the Gunners, Mikel Arteta's men ultimately ended the season trophyless yet again.

While Haaland and Co. missed out on a second consecutive treble, this win means Manchester City can still finish the season with the double if they beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final on May 25.
