About

Rede Vida History, Coverage, Features

Rede Vida, also known as REDEVIDA, is a Brazilian free-to-air television channel headquartered in Sao José do Rio Preto. It was launched on May 1, 1995 and has been made available to most regions in Brazil via relay stations, affiliates, and on satellite TV. It is owned by the Brazilian Institute of Christian Communication (INBRAC) as an investment by the Catholic Church.

Given that Rede Vida is owned by the Catholic Church, its programming has been aimed towards that target audience over the years. The channel has aired masses, novenas, and rosaries to satisfy the demand by that demographic group. Even so, in order to add more content to the network, Rede Vida has aired news, interviews, variety shows, and live sports coverage to its programming.

Speaking about sports, Rede Vida has aired football championships for lower-tier leagues such as the Serie A2, Serie A3, and the Segunda Divisao in the Campeonato Paulista. Other tournaments covered by the channel in the past include the Copa Sao Paulo, the defunct FIFA Confederations Cup, and a friendly match between Brazil and Colombia in 2017 to pay tribute to the deceased players of the Chapecoense tragedy.

Rede Vida started its broadcasts in Standard Definition, but a High Definition feed was developed for this channel in 2009.
