Imagen Televisión History, Coverage, Features
Imagen Televisión is a private television network owned and operated by Grupo Imagen. It was launched on October 17, 2016, to replace Cadena Tres, a short-lived television station that was also owned by the same multimedia group. It is known as the third most relevant television company in the country behind Televisa and TV Azteca.
Imagen Televisión has mainly made a name for itself as a generalist network, with news broadcasts, entertainment shows, sports broadcasts, movies, animated series, TV series, children’s programming, telenovelas, video game shows, and more. Most of the content aired by Imagen Televisión has come from in-house productions but shows from other networks -especially movies- have been produced in other countries.
Speaking about sports, Imagen Televisión has focused their efforts on broadcasting live football games, while also adding highlights shows during the weekends. Football games aired by Imagen Televisión have mostly been related to Liga MX and Copa MX matches. Wrestling matches have also been aired on this channel from time to time.
Since its launch, Imagen Televisión has been forced by the Mexican Telecommunications Institute to broadcast its signal in High Definition. A downscaled version of this format may be available in some regions of this country.
