About Liverpool FC
Liverpool Football Club is an English professional football club based in Liverpool. The club, nicknamed “The Reds” by its supporters, was founded in 1892 and plays all its home games at Anfield, a venue opened in 1884 with a seating capacity of 54,074 fans in its current format.
Liverpool has enjoyed quite a bit of success in both the Premier League as well as in international competition, especially during the 1970s and 1980s as well as since the turn of the 21st century. The team has won multiple titles, both on the domestic and European front – namely the Premier League, the FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League, and the UEFA Super Cup among others. As such, Liverpool is widely considered as among the top clubs in world football, and is currently the most successful English team in European competitions.
The Reds have long-standing rivalries with Everton and Manchester United, and matches featuring Liverpool playing either of these two teams are always highly-anticipated ties for Liverpool supporters. The team’s longest-standing rivalry is with Everton, and the matches are commonly known as the Merseyside derby as both teams hail from the same region. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s rivalry with Manchester United also extends back well over a century and is based on the two teams’ footballing success as well as economic and industrial competition that inherently exists due to the two cities (Liverpool and Manchester) being in close proximity.
Liverpool has had several owners since its inception, and is currently owned by the Fenway Sports Group following Tom Werner and John Henry’s acquisition of the club in 2010. The club’s official streaming channel is LFCTV GO, a subscription-based service that provides live and on-demand streaming coverage of all of Liverpool’s Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup matches, plus select European ties (if the team is competing in European tournaments that season). In addition to live-streaming matches, LFCTV GO also offers bonus content, including behind-the-scenes footage of training sessions, interviews with coaches and players, and documentaries.
