The Blaugrana threw away a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 at home to Real Madrid, with Gundogan calling out his teammates after the final whistle.

Barcelona hosted Real Madrid on Saturday in the first official El Clasico of the season. The two Spanish giants faced off in the USA during the preseason but for Ilkay Gundogan and Jude Bellingham, this was their first taste of a competitive showdown between these two powerhouses.

The German ace got the first laugh, with the former Manchester City captain getting on the scoresheet courtesy of a defensive blunder from Los Blancos, thus giving the Catalan giants the lead after only six minutes.

However, Bellingham got the last laugh as the English sensation scored twice to inspire his side to a comeback victory, equalizing in the 68th minute before grabbing the winner two minutes into added time.

And speaking after the game, Ilkay Gundogan admitted to not only being upset with the result, having thrown away a one-nil lead to come away with nothing, but also being livid with his teammates' reaction to Saturday's result.

Last season's treble winner spoke to Optus Sport following the final whistle and candidly called out his comrades, singling out their mentality. He admitted to the Australian sports channel that the dressing room was not as upset with the defeat as he would have liked and stated that Real Madrid and Girona could run away with the title race unless there is a shift in attitude.

Barcelona find themselves third in the table following that result and while there have been a handful of shaky performances this season, Xavi's men performed well against Los Blancos. Nonetheless, the Catalan giants came away with nothing and now trail Bellingham and Co. by four points.

Additionally, fellow Catalan side Girona also sit ahead of them in the standings, also boasting a four-point advantage over the Blaugrana. Next up for Barcelona is a trip to Real Sociedad on Saturday.
