The German footballer was off to a good start with the Blaugrana side, scoring his first La Liga goal against the team's bitter rivals.

Things could not have been off to a better start for Barcelona, who claimed an early lead in El Clásico thanks to a goal by Ilkay Gundögan.

The German footballer was yet to score a goal for the Catalan side in La Liga, and he chose the best possible scenario by finding the back of the net after picking up a loose ball right outside Los Blancos' box and driving it all the way past Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The unexpected goal came in handy for Barcelona, as it helped Xavi's men get settled in the game. Added to that, it gave the scorer a chance to make a bit of history for himself.
